What’s new in DISQOVER: smarter search, enhanced visualizations, and more

Today, ONTOFORCE has released DISQOVER 7.7, the latest version of our flagship product. DISQOVER is a knowledge discovery platform built on knowledge graph and semantic technology. Made exclusively for the life sciences industry, users can search across disparate public and private data sources through a single interface that enables easy and efficient insight discovery and data exploration, powering efficiencies across the drug development lifecycle.  

With this release, we’re excited to highlight the newest improvements in DISQOVER, along with key enhancements from previous releases, 7.5 and 7.6. 

Improved exploration  

In DISQOVER 7.5, we made it easier to explore and understand search results by renaming the three exploration tabs to better reflect their purpose: 

• List: A detailed, itemized view of search results. 
• Table: A structured, tabular representation, allowing users to add, edit, and remove columns. 
• Charts: A dynamic and interactive way to visualize and filter results through charts. 

To help users start exploring datasets faster, they can now define the default landing tab for an exploration, ensuring they start with the most relevant view for their needs.  

Additionally, DISQOVER 7.6 introduced multiple improvements in the "explore related content" pane: 

• A new button inside the pane for quick access. 
• The ability to view all related concepts in one place. 
• The option to expand each concept to reveal all its relations. 

Enhanced data visualization 

In DISQOVER 7.6, we introduced a choropleth chart, allowing users to plot data by country on a world map while supporting full interactive filtering. Users can also pan and zoom on charts, enabling a more detailed exploration of trends and patterns.  

Smarter and more efficient search and filtering 

With DISQOVER 7.7, search is now even more precise and efficient. The new “directed relations” feature allows users to focus on specific relationship paths, ensuring more targeted query results. Additionally, we’ve optimised how relationships are queried and visualized, improving the overall search experience and performance. 

Users also gain better oversight when filtering. Now, all results and filter values from related concepts are visible in most cases, even if the query initially results in zero matches. This gives users more control and flexibility when building queries. 

Optimized data ingestion and private data handling 

We continue to enhance DISQOVER’s Data Ingestion Engine to support a wider range of data sources. With DISQOVER 7.7, users can now import data from Snowflake directly, simplifying ingestion workflows and significantly reducing time to value. 

Additionally, the DISQOVER 7.6 release optimized the performance of data ingestion, achieving substantial decreases in memory use for private data pipelines.
